| | Chenies Street | view slideshow | view thumbnails [ 36 images ] | | | An unprepossessing street at first glance this week but look further and you'll see lots of interest. Chenies Street is off Tottenham Court road. At first it seems your normal Bloomsbury street with the usual eclectic mix of people and architecture – however you might just run in to dear old richard attenborough or the next big thing on the silver screen as this is the home of RADA.
At the top of the road is something very different. A round – almost military looking building. This is actually one of two entrances to the deep level shelters that run under Goodge street station and it was here that General Eisenhower announced the invasion of france in 1944.
Lots of people, lots of interesting buildings. Enjoy! | | | Directions: | Goto Goodge street station and walk towards Tottenham Court road station – across the road – first left is Chenies Street. | | | Map: | Click here for the map. | |
